STEVE Smith’s captain’s knock and some big hitting by Australia’s lower order helped the hosts take charge of the second Test against India.

MITCHELL Starc needed to find something special to keep his place for Boxing Day and he wasn’t prepared to wait until he got the ball back in his hands to make a start.

NIC Maddinson carried his bat as Sydney Sixers eased to victory in their opening match of the Big Bash season against Melbourne Renegades.

KEVIN Muscat has taunted host City by claiming the Melbourne derby was a home game for Victory, with AAMI Park providing it with happy memories of late.

LITTLE has changed on the field for Melbourne City, but the 2014-15 version is so much more interesting and the last fortnight underlines it.

Access to MCC Archives Collection

The MCC Archives collection was opened for public access from April 2, 2012. Access to the collection is by appointment only.

An appointment should be made with the archivist to discuss potential research and reference requests.

In preparation for this discussion, it is advised that prospective users familiarise themselves with the MCC Archives Access Policy.

Reference and Research Services

A range of services is available:

• General Reference Enquiries
MCC Archives has qualified staff who are available to provide general information about the collections and relevant advice concerning any secondary source material.  They welcome the opportunity to assist with specific reference enquiries.

In addition, simple research questions that can easily be answered will be treated as reference enquiries. This reference service is free of charge.

• Researcher Access
Where requests for complex research activities require extensive access to MCC Archives this shall be granted at the discretion of the MCC CEO (or nominee).

The Archives is not a “self-service” environment, and if such a request is granted the researcher shall only be permitted access to the parts of the collection relating to their request.

• Access Registration
Researchers who wish to undertake their own research projects using the Archives are required to register annually as an MCC Registered Archives User before they are able to access collection material.

This procedure entails completing a Registered Archives Users Application Form (Schedule 6) and submitting an annual subscription fee where required (as set out in Schedule 2). This fee assists us in operating and maintaining our high quality services.

• Specialist Research Assistance
The Archives will conduct a limited amount of research on behalf of researchers and reasonable fees will be charged for this service (as set out in Schedule 2).

Charges apply whether or not an actual record is found. This specialist research assistance is typically available for the benefit of Registered Archives Users who:

o Are unable to attend MCC Archives in person, or
o Request information from restricted records.

Hours of Access

Staff will attend to requests by appointment only during MCC Library opening hours (10.00am-4.00pm, Monday to Friday), subject to MCG match day requirements.

Appointments must be organised in advance with the archivist or authorised staff by mail, telephone or email.
