    Women in Wine Function

Natalie PizziniThe fourth Women in Wine Function will be held on Wednesday February 17 in the Long Room.

Prominent wine experts Katrina and Natalie Pizzini, from Pizzini Wines, will be our special guests.

On arrival, canapés will be served along with a fine selection of Pizzini wines followed by platters of fresh antipasto and a selection of local and imported cheeses with wines to complement the fare.

    ABOUT PIZZINI WINES

Pizzini Wines are a family owned winery located in the King Valley wine region in Victoria’s north east. They specialise in the production of both French and Italian wine varietals.

Fred and Katrina began Pizzini Wines in the mid 1990’s, but prior to growing grapes the family grew tobacco.  At one stage the Pizzini Brothers (Fred’s father and three of his brothers) were the largest tobacco producing company in the Southern Hemisphere.

Now all four of Katrina’s children work within their business in some capacity, Joel as the winemaker, Carlo as the business manager, Nicole in cellar door and Natalie in marketing and promotions.

    ---------------------------------------------------

    Natalie Pizzini
Natalie is Katrina’s eldest daughter and although she is not a winemaker, she is married to a viticulturist, so she considers this close enough to being a Woman In Wine!

Natalie has worked within the family business since 1997 when she and her cousin Adam ran the family owned Mountain View Hotel in Whitfield.

They successfully turned the hotel into a food and wine tourism destination for north east Victoria and won Australian Hotels Association Awards for Excellence including Best Country Hotel Without Gaming and Best Country Hotel Restaurant.

    Katrina Pizzini
Katrina Pizzini is the great women behind the good man! She is the backbone of the Pizzini family and their winemaking business. Katrina's passions are her family, her business and cooking fantastic meals for those lucky enough to enjoy her hospitality.

Although not a winemaker as such, she certainly is a Woman In Wine as Fred and Katrina began growing grapes in the late 1970’s, all of the fruit grown on the property was initially sold to Brown Brothers in Milawa. They began their own wine label in the mid 1990s.

Katrina’s latest venture is to open her Vino e Vita Cooking School in their new cellar door building in July 2010, she hopes to teach guests to cook some of the dishes from her first cookbook A tavola!
