Comedy Blockbuster at the 'G

Following the success of last year’s Comedy Blockbuster at the ‘G, the function returns to the Members Dining Room on Friday April 12 with a brand new line up of comedians.

To coincide with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, some of Australia’s best-known comedians will take to the stage for an hour of high-quality entertainment  and laughs.

The Hugh Trumble Café will be open from 5.30pm for those wishing to have a pre-show drink and dinner (view menu). Following the show, the Frank Grey Smith bar will be the place to be to enjoy some live music and drinks.

The evening will be hosted by Colin Lane, best known as Lano from one of Australia’s best comedic duos, Lano and Woodley. The night’s line-up will also feature:

• Dave Hughes – Hughsey, as he is affectionately known, is one-half of Melbourne’s Nova breakfast radio team, co-hosts Network Ten’s The Project and is a panel member on the popular Before the Game AFL program. In 2012, Dave performed at the prestigious Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal and will take to the stage at the 2013 Melbourne International Comedy Festival with his show Freezer Bread.

• Claire Hooper - In 2006, Claire earned a nomination for the Melbourne Comedy Festival’s Best Newcomer Award. For three years she was a team captain on the comedy show Good News Week. She has also appeared on Rove and the Melbourne Comedy Festival's Great Debate. She returns to the stage in 2013 in a hotly-anticipated new show, Plums.

• Peter Helliar – Peter came to attention in 1999 as an integral member of Rove before moving to After the Game, later to become Before the Game. He is also well-known for his alter ego, Bryan Strauchan, Collingwood rookie and footy superstar in the making. In 2013 he returns to television screens starring in his ABC comedy series, It’s a Date and touring with his solo show Whatevs (…Forevs).

• Rachel Berger - Rachel is one of Australia’s most highly-regarded, adept and adaptive comedic talents, working variously as a comedian, broadcaster, novelist, columnist, agitator and television entertainer. She’s taken four solo shows to the Edinburgh Festival and is a popular performer both live and on television.
