The Melbourne Cricket Club has many special member interest groups and facilities for members to enjoy.
The newly formed MCC Bridge Club hold regular sessions of the world’s most famous card game at the MCG. Weekly bridge sessions have commenced on Thursday afternoons in the Hans Ebeling Room and all MCC members are invited to join in the fun.
The Long Room Wine and Food Society is a most popular common-interest club. The society conducted its first monthly luncheon in the Long Room in June 1987 and meets on the last Wednesday of each month.
The society established a substantial cellar and draws from this resource for "cellar days" two or three times each year. Winemakers are invited to show their wines at all other functions. Outstanding cuisine is provided by a rotating band of high-class chefs from club caterers, Epicure.
The War Veterans Group welcomes all MCC members who would qualify for membership of the RSL. Chairman Les Shelley (ph: 9889 4360) will provide further details.
The Women of MCC aim to build a network of female MCC members who can act as ambassadors to promote MCC functions, advocate on behalf of female members, create and enhance opportunities to network, build friendships and encourage use of the fabulous facilities by female members.
The Young Members Club was formed in 1996 to cater for the interests of the MCC’s young members aged between 18 and 40. Joining the Young Members Club is a great way to meet other members and catch up with friends at functions, including cocktail parties, lawn bowls nights and the Anzac Eve Ball, which made a successful debut in 2008.
