AUSTRALIA has taken a 2-0 series lead but not before being given a scare during its short run chase against India at the Gabba. See how it happened.

STEVE Smith’s captain’s knock and some big hitting by Australia’s lower order helped the hosts take charge of the second Test against India.

FIFA will publish a legally ‘appropriate version’ of a report into allegations of World Cup bidding corruption, president Sepp Blatter says.

A GERMAN bank is seeking $517.5 million in a lawsuit against Formula One magnate Bernie Ecclestone over the 2006 sale of the sport’s rights.

GOALKEEPER Joe Hart has become the latest Manchester City star to commit to the club, agreeing to a new contract through 2019.

Long Room Wine and Food Society Old Bottle Day Luncheon

Once again we start off our New Year program with the highly popular and informal Old Bottle Day luncheon to be held in the Long Room on Wednesday January 28, 2015.

Bring one or two of your favourite bottles (but no more than two), preferably with a bit of age on them (but still drinkable) to share with fellow members.

On arrival you will be greeted with sparkling wine and sherry from our cellar followed by an excellent three-course luncheon.

As in previous years this function will be restricted to society MEMBERS ONLY. No specific seating arrangements will apply, and an informal U-shaped table setting will be arranged.

Eminent wine writer and critic Jeremy Oliver will again give his expert opinion on all wines presented throughout the lunch. The winner of Jeremy’s wine of the day will be added to the Old Bottle Day perpetual trophy which will be on display showing all past winners.

Bookings will be processed on a first-in basis and as functions are always extremely popular you will need to get your reply in early to avoid disappointment.

Bookings for this function will close on Thursday January 22.

Please note bookings for this function are only for members of the Long Room Wine & Food Society.
