IN a cruel twist of fate for felled fighter Bethe Correia, Ronda Rousey has hammered a final, brutal nail in the coffin after her resounding victory at UFC 190.

SHAUN Marsh’s maiden first-class ton was the best innings Steve Waugh had ever seen from a 19-year-old. So why is Marsh’s potential just starting blossom?

IAN Healy and Shane Warne believe Australia could face a mass clean-out of their playing ranks if they fail save the Ashes series at Trent Bridge.

MICHAEL Clarke took a page straight out of the Wayne Bennett or Kevin Sheedy playbook after Australia were mauled in the third Test at Edgbaston.

TO be attacked once was bad luck, but a stunned Mick Fanning has been captured on 60 Minutes moments after confronting another shark in the surf.

    WOMCC Committee vacancy

Are you interested in joining the committee of this dynamic, diverse and interesting group that promotes women’s involvement in the MCC and supports the development of disadvantaged women and girls through sport?

The Women of MCC Committee meets 6–8 times a year, usually in the early evening. View our charter and goals.

Members of the WOMCC committee vary in background and careers.  All are passionate about their sport, and are regular attendees at MCG events and MCC functions.  We aim to plan or be a key partner in four events per year.

Through these events, we have raised money and supported a range of organisations using sport to develop confidence and skills of girls and women.

These include Harmony 8 Cricket, The Catherine Freeman Foundation, The River Nile Organisation, Onside Victoria, and most recently, Sporting Camps for Women Paralympians.

This year we will be supporting Dare to Dream, a program working in partnership with YWCA (Victoria) and Westside Circus and also supported by the Melbourne Football Club.

The program aims to assist girls and young women in building their self esteem and instilling in them an “anything is possible” attitude.

To apply, please email a brief response and CV to chair Kerri Spillane prior to Friday January 27, 2012.

Applicants must be a current Full or Restricted member of the MCC.  All applications will be assessed by a nominations sub-committee of the WOMCC.

It would be helpful if you would let us know in brief dot point form about:

    • Why are you interested in joining the WOMCC Committee?
    • What skills and experience can you offer WOMCC?
    • What previous experience you have, if any, serving on similar bodies?

We aim to advise all applicants of the outcome by Friday February 17, 2012.
