MCC employee named Victorian Greenkeeper of the Year

Aug 02, 2010

Warren Maynard, Melbourne Cricket Club greenkeeperThe club would like to congratulate Warren Maynard, greenkeeper of the MCC Bowls Section's greens at Swinburne Avenue and Glen Street as well as the MCC Croquet Section’s green also located at Glen Street, on being awarded the Victorian Greenkeepers Association’s (VGA), Greenkeeper of the Year.

After being nominated by his peers Warren was one of six finalists, with the award presented at the VGA’s Annual General Meeting on July 14.

The VGA aims to create an environment in which turf managers (specifically related to bowling clubs/greens) can network on turf management practices and issues. Warren is also the vice-president of the association.

To be eligible for the award, the recipient must be a member of the VGA, promote the industry and greenkeeping in general, support and offer advice to others, be highly respected amongst their peers and of course the award recognises the quality of the greens under their management.

The bowls and croquet sections are particularly grateful for the work Warren and apprentice Josh Ramsden put into the greens.

Congratulations, Warren!
