MELBOURNE Storm went back to basics and looked anything but a spent force in a 26-18 win over the second-placed Sydney Roosters.

GUUS Hiddink may have got plenty of credit yet only now are we appreciating how good the 2006 World Cup squad was.

THERE is great excitement among all the players today as we prepare to leave for England.

THE pain of her French Open semi-final capitulation to unheralded Italian Sara Errani a year ago still stings Sam Stosur.

MELBOURNE's stunning recovery from its hellish South African tour will take on another dimension this week.

Epicure honoured at Chef's Table Awards

    Jun 30, 2010

An Epicure chef hard at it in the MCC Committee RoomThe club’s weekday restaurant offerings in the Committee Room continue to please members and guests, and it seems the word is spreading.

The MCC and Epicure Catering were recognised for their fine culinary fare with a silver medal in the Chef’s Table Awards at the Clubs Victoria Presidents’ Night on June 22.

Chefs Adriano Biondi and Blair Humphrey also won the Most Balanced and Creative Menu category for the three-course menu they prepared for the judges in the Committee Room.

The awards aim to develop the skills of chefs and apprentices working within registered clubs in Victoria, through statewide recognition of their culinary abilities. The dishes prepared by contestants were measured on presentation, taste, menu creativity and food/wine matching, among other qualities.

It has been a busy time in the Committee Room.  After a very popular global food theme to coincide with the FIFA World Cup last month, a stunning menu of French classics to mark Bastille Day was also very well received.

To see what all the fuss is about, members may make a booking for lunch on Monday to Friday by ringing the club on (03) 9657 8888.
