MCC cricketers Brad Hodge and Andrew McDonald have been rewarded for their domestic cricket performances at the Cricket Australia State Cricket Awards announced today at Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
The annual State Cricket Awards are held in the lead-up to the Sheffield Shield final each year, this year to be contested between Tasmania and New South Wales.
Hodge capped off another strong season with the Ryobi One-Day Cup Player of the Series award. The leading run scorer in the competition, Hodge finished on 20 votes, just pipping Tasmanian Ed Cowan (18), with South Australian Dan Christian third on 17.
The Johnnie Walker Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) All*Star Teams were also announced at today’s awards, recognising the achievements of the best performed players in the Sheffield Shield, Ryobi One-Day Cup and Twenty20 Big Bash competitions.
All-rounder McDonald was named 12th man in the Sheffield Shield team of the year as a reward for some scintillating efforts in between injuries, while Hodge was unsurprisingly selected at number three in the Ryobi Cup team of the year.
The MCC congratulates both Brad and Andrew on their achievements.
