MITCHELL Starc’s summer could be over after the Australian paceman left Adelaide Oval on crutches with a foot stress fracture on Friday night.

AARON Mooy’s brilliance helped Melbourne City return to the A-League’s top six with a comprehensive victory over Perth Glory.

PETER Siddle became a worthy inductee into the 200-wicket club on Friday night, and is now just one step away from earning what he truly deserves – a Cricket Australia contract.

MELBOURNE Storm will have the city to themselves in early March with back-to-back NRL home games at AAMI Park before the start of the AFL season.

JAMES Pattinson is expected to be playing Test cricket by Boxing Day but a fresh injury drama for Mitchell Starc could see him back in Hobart.

MCC warns waiting list - update details or miss out

May 27, 2011

The MCC is taking affirmative action to ensure that thousands of people waiting for membership can receive their offer – by allowing access to the Members Reserve at the MCG for selected AFL matches in return for a valid email address.

Thousands of potential members risk missing out on a membership offer if they don’t keep their details current, in particular a valid email address, mobile number and postal address.

At present, less than 25% of the waiting list has given the club an email address.

All those on the waiting list aged six and above who lodge/have lodged a valid email address with the club will be sent details about how to purchase visitor tickets to access the MCC Members Reserve at any of eight nominated AFL home and away matches, starting with Hawthorn v Fremantle on Sunday June 5.

“One of our major frustrations is dealing with people who have waited a long time for membership but did not receive an offer because they neglected to update details,” said MCC president Paul Sheahan.

“By providing us with an email address, we can proactively contact waiting list candidates on an annual basis to check whether they have moved house or changed their details.”

“This will reduce the heartache involved when candidates who have not updated their details discover they have missed out on a membership offer,” Sheahan said.

“It also allows the club to provide offers such as this one, whereby we allow access to the Members Reserve for some AFL matches.”

Mr Sheahan urged those on the waiting list to act now to avoid despair at a later time.

“Our message is simple. If you are on the waiting list, or think you are, please contact the club to check that we have correct information on file,” he said.

“It would be a shame to wait more than 15 years for membership, only to be wiped off at the last minute!”

One of Australia’s most sought-after sporting memberships, there are more than 101,000 MCC members and a waiting list of more than 213,000 people.
