    MCG Community Day

    Sep 22, 2011

Young footy fans get into the action on MCG Community DayImagine this - the banners have been broken, the siren has sounded and the game has been won - but the 2011 AFL season will live for one more day with the MCG Community Day, presented by Cadbury on Sunday October 2.

The day after the AFL Grand Final, the hallowed MCG turf will welcome footy fans keen to relive the thrill of the most significant day of the footy calendar.

Retracing the same steps the premiership players took only a few hours earlier, fans will have the opportunity to stand on the dais that propelled the premiers into the history books and to hold aloft a replica of the 2011 premiership cup.

Posing in front of the giant scoreboard with the final scores may be heart-warming for some and heart-breaking for others. Regardless of the result, it will be a terrific and lasting memory for all footy fans.

Before heading out to the ground, a visit to the National Sports Museum’s interactive Game On space will allow fans to hone their kicking and handballing skills. Then put these to the test in front of the mighty MCG goal posts – a target which continues to challenge even AFL footballers! Bring your own footy for kick-to-kick and goal shooting.*

The MCG Community Day ticket price includes on-field activities, roving entertainers, entry into the National Sports Museum (Australia’s only multi-sports museum, containing thousands of sporting objects and interactives) and a behind-the-scenes MCG Tour.

As an added bonus, the first 500 families attending on the day will receive a fun-filled MCG Community Day showbag.
