A WORLD record in the pool and a fifth Games gold for Anna Meares headlines a great start for Australia at the Commonwealth Games.

ANNA Meares shows her strength to the world in all sorts of ways — sometimes just cooking a plain old barbecue sausage.

WORLD EXCLUSIVE: Frank Lampard will not come to Melbourne City. A touted guest stint for the 106-cap England star has fallen flat amid his New York move.

AUSSIE sensation Dante Exum says he wants to play NBA straight away and will use the FIBA World Cup to launch into his rookie season with Utah.

VINCENZO Nibali has confirmed his supremacy at the Tour de France with his fourth stage victory in the 18th stage from Pau to Hautacam.

Victorian Governor Alex Chernov was among 24 club members recognised in this year’s Australia Day honours list.

Mr Chernov was appointed Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) for his contribution to education and the judiciary.

He worked as a barrister before he was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1980. Mr Chernov became a Supreme Court judge in 1997 and was elevated to the Court of Appeal the following year.
