Members receive Australia Day honours

Victorian Governor Alex Chernov was among 24 club members recognised in this year’s Australia Day honours list.

Mr Chernov was appointed Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) for his contribution to education and the judiciary.

He worked as a barrister before he was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1980. Mr Chernov became a Supreme Court judge in 1997 and was elevated to the Court of Appeal the following year.

He was elected deputy chancellor of the University of Melbourne in 2004 and became chancellor in 2009.

The club congratulates each member on their achievements and recognition.
