Real Tennis: An Ancient Game at Melbourne’s oldest club

Real tennis display in the MCC Library foyerReal Tennis: An Ancient Game at Melbourne’s oldest club is installed in the MCC Library foyer to celebrate the staging of the biennial Boomerang Cup, the largest real tennis club competition in the world, at the Royal Melbourne Tennis Club from January 12-26, 2013.

Focused on the literature concerning the game of real tennis from its origins in medieval Europe through to the modern game in Australia, the exhibition also includes the racket of the MCC’s 11-time, and current, world champion Rob Fahey, and tennis balls in various stages of manufacture.

The display opened in the MCC Library foyer on Boxing Day and can be viewed throughout the summer, with special viewings available this week during the Boomerang Cup.
