Library's The Yorker wins major award

Oct 20, 2013

MCC librarians David Studham (left) and Trevor Ruddell. The MCC Library’s flagship publication The Yorker has again received international recognition, adjudged the “best program, annual report or magazine” at the International Sports Heritage Association’s (ISHA) communications awards for the third consecutive year.

Librarian David Studham (pictured here, left, with assistant librarian Trevor Ruddell) was more than delighted that The Yorker, first published in 1993 and now available by subscription, had been given such an accolade by ISHA.

The Yorker material is researched and written by library staff and a loyal band of volunteers who write on anything from skittles to squash and lawn bowls to baseball, plus the many characters associated with the club and the ground over the years. Book reviews are also on the menu.

Its broad charter brings into play the vast resources of the MCC collections, allowing themes and individuals to be examined and showcased to great effect. In short, there’s something for everyone with a sporting interest.

Members (and others) are encouraged to subscribe to The Yorker by completing the order form
