Jan 14, 2011

Rising flood waters in south-east QueenslandThe Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) and its hospitality partner Spotless Services Limited (SSL) are together donating $50,000 to the Queensland Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal.

They encourage MCC members and the cricketing public to continue their support at the two international cricket matches at the MCG this weekend.

MCC president David Meiklejohn said the events unfolding throughout Queensland this week had touched everyone in the community.

“The thoughts and best wishes of the MCC and its members are with all those affected by this disaster,” Mr Meiklejohn said. “The response from around the world has been extraordinary and we hope cricket fans can continue that support at the MCG this weekend.”

Spotless Managing Director and CEO Josef Farnik said that Spotless was committed to supporting the Queensland community amid such devastation.

“We have several thousand employees in Queensland and feel very much part of the Queensland community,” said Mr Farnik. “Therefore, we will support relief efforts and the rebuilding of the state.”

Donations to the flood relief appeal can be made outside the MCG at tonight’s Twenty20 international and Sunday’s one-day international.
