    The MCG: A Stadium Reborn

"The MCG: A Stadium Reborn" front coverFollowing the successful completion of the MCG redevelopment of the Northern Stands, the MCC has commissioned a 192-page photo essay ‘coffee table’ style book as an official record of the project.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground: A Stadium Reborn’ is a magnificent book authored by Stuart Sykes which shows the ground undergoing significant changes during the three-and-a-half year project.

The book acknowledges the unique history of the MCG, celebrates the stadium’s rebirth as Australia’s premier venue for the 21st century - a process seen through the eyes of several key figures on and off the sporting field - and sets the MCG in the context of contemporary stadium architecture.

Noted photographer, John Gollings, provides stunning photography of the ground while the MCG’s Icon partner, Herald and Weekly Times, have provided valuable assistance towards the completion of this book.

As well as a record of the changes taking place at the ground, the book takes in the AFL Grand Finals staged during the redevelopment, the annual Boxing Day Tests, Anzac Day matches and the Commonwealth Games.

It also showcases some of the events staged soon after the completion of the redevelopment, such as the 2006 Commonwealth Games, the 2006 Boxing Day Test Match and the Socceroos v Greece match prior to the 2006 World Cup.

MCC members have the opportunity to purchase the book from the club for a discounted rate of $60 inclusive of GST. The book will be available for pick up at the ground or can be posted to members at an additional cost.
