THE immediate reactions were shock and sadness from across the globe as news of Phillip Hughes’ tragic death filtered through on Thursday.

AS the cricket community wrestles with what to do next after Phillip Hughes’ death, RON REED writes the first Test against India should proceed, with the result mattering less than the symbolism of playing it.

PHILLIP Hughes’ family and Australian captain Michael Clarke have delivered an emotional goodbye after the batsman tragically died from a head injury today.

AUSTRALIAN cricketer Phillip Hughes has died after being struck in the head while batting at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He was 25.

IT is doubtful whether any incident has caused more widespread grief in Australian cricket than the loss of one of the game’s most likeable characters.

The MCC is proud to be able to offer our Sporting Sections access to the many function and dining rooms we now have available throughout our Members Reserve.

We hope that this manual provides our Sporting Sections with the information required to manage successful functions.

Although we appreciate the fact that many of our Sporting Sections rely on the services of their representatives who are often assisting in a voluntary capacity, it is important that each Section understands the need to take ownership of their respective function.

Therefore we will assume that each Section, when organising a function, have put together their own budgets, decided on a ticket price, organised a booking form or point of contact and in general taken all necessary steps to ensure the function is a success.
