MCG Tour and Themed Tours

An MCG Tour takes in a walk on the famous arena turf.

The MCG Tour gives the visitor the opportunity to relive their great sporting memories through a comprehensive tour of this marvellous stadium.

MCG Tours take approximately 75 minutes and includes a tour guide, departing regularly from Gate 3 from 10am-3pm (except Christmas Day, Good Friday and major MCG event days). Bookings are not essential.

Themed Tours

Our themed tours run every Wednesday at noon or larger groups may choose to book them at a time that suits them by calling +61 3 9657 8879.

Our first themed tour is called MCG, Sport and War.

This tour takes visitors through the National Sports Museum and MCC Museum exploring historical artefacts like evidence of the American Air Force occupation of the MCG in WWII, the Blackham Ball used as a fundraiser for returned servicemen and a replica Victoria Cross awarded posthumously to Flight Lt William Newton.

The tour also explores parts of the ground where there are memorials, plaques and recognition of the story of the MCG, Sport and War.

National Sports Museum

Handball action in the Game On interactive gallery at the National Sports Museum A fully accredited sports heritage complex and tourism destination, the MCG also houses the National Sports Museum.

The National Sports Museum is home to the Olympic Museum, Sport Australia Hall of Fame, Australian Cricket Hall of Fame, Australian Football Hall of Fame, Champions - Thoroughbred Racing Gallery and much more.
