About

Celebrate with the Women of the MCC at our renowned Women in Wine function. We are excited to present the 20th instalment of this unbroken tradition.

Members and their guests will be treated to uniquely crafted premium wines from two outstanding winemakers, Jess Clark from Dexter Wines on the Mornington Peninsula and Tillie Johnston from Tillie.J Wines in the Yarra Valley.

Jess and Tillie have both lived and breathed wine for the last 15 years together and separately. Both have studied, worked extensively oversees and around Australia, and now run small family businesses in Victoria. They met while working at Giant Steps in the Yarra Valley and have remained friends ever since, supporting one another through work, kids, family and Pinot.

The wines will be complemented by canapes and a specially created three-course menu from the MCG's Hospitality partner, Delaware North.

We look forward to welcoming you to the milestone that is our 20th Women in Wine.

More Information

Jess Clark smiling outside in vineyard

Jess completed her masters of Oenology at Adelaide University and UC Davis before embarking on a series of harvests around the world: Burgundy, Alsace, Germany, Canada, Napa Valley, Adelaide Hills, Yarra Valley and the Mornington Peninsula. After previously working for six years as a winemaker at Giant Steps, Jess joined her family business, Dexter Wines on the Mornington Peninsula, making premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir two years ago.

The Dexter vineyard was planted 40 years ago by Tod and Debbie Dexter in Tuerong. The fruit was originally sold to Stoniers and Yabby Lake, however now everything that is grown on the property is made for the Dexter brand. Four generations of Dexters are now involved in the property and brand.

As well as winemaking, sales, marketing and the various roles that come with a family business, Jess also runs the Pinot Massif workshop and judges wine at Geelong, Yarra and Mornington Wine Shows.

Tillie Johnson with bucket of grapes in vineyard

Tillie.J Wines is a one-woman band. She oversees everything from winemaking, viticulture, sales and administration of her Yarra Valley based cool-climate wine brand. Tillie has been working with and gaining valuable experience at a few noteworthy wineries and vineyards both domestically and aboard for the last 15 years. Her winemaking philosophy is simple - let the grapes do the talking and only put into bottle bright, fun, playful and expressive wines that drink well young and can comfortably cellar if required.
