About the Club

The MCC Hockey Section was established in 1961 and savoured immediate success when it won both the B Grade and C Grade premierships in the Victorian Amateur Hockey Association that year.

The club played at Albert Park from 1962 before establishing a home at Melbourne High School in 1995. The section now also trains and plays games out of Elwood College.

MCC Hockey fields men’s, women’s, juniors’ and veterans’ teams for players of all levels.

A number of past and present MCC players have gone on to compete at state and national levels – including selection for Australia’s gold medal-winning women’s hockey teams at the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

The section won its inaugural premiership in Hockey Victoria's Men's Premier League in 2023 and narrowly missed out on a second title in 2025, finishing runners-up. Following the promotion of their women's first team in 2025 which saw them return to the Premier League, both first teams will feature in Hockey Victoria's highest grade in 2026.
