The Melbourne Cricket Club is saddened by the passing of Hans Ebeling Award winner and former Committee member, Peter Mitchell.

Headshot of Peter Mitchell. He wears an MCC tie

Peter represented the MCC Tennis section as a player from 1964 – 1986 and held the role of Committee member, Secretary and Chairman, over decades involved with the Section.

A 500-game player with MCC Squash, he joined the Section’s inaugural Committee in 1968 where he remained until 1992 and spent eight years during this period as Chairman.

Peter was involved in the foundation of one of the MCC’s Special Interest Groups, the Long Room Wine and Food Society, and was the inaugural chairman of the Golf Club, which has since become one of the Club’s Sporting Sections.

A dedicated and admired member of the MCC community, Peter will be missed and his vast contributions to the Club will be remembered.

Our thoughts remain with Peter’s family, friends and the Club’s community during this time.

Vale Peter Mitchell.
