Become an MCG Tour Guide

The Melbourne Cricket Ground has a story worth telling, and we’re looking for people to tell it.
The Melbourne Cricket Club is looking for passionate, people-focused members to join our volunteer MCG Tour Guide team. If you love the MCG, enjoy sharing knowledge and take pride in delivering great service, this could be the role for you.
What the role involves
MCG Tour Guides take visitors on guided tours of the ground, up to 75 minutes in duration and up to twice per day, sharing the stories, history and significance of the MCG and the MCC. Tours accommodate a wide range of visitors, from first-timers and lifelong fans to international visitors, so guides need to be warm, adaptable and confident presenting to groups of all types.
The minimum commitment is two days per month. Applicants must hold or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check.
What we're looking for
To join the team, you'll need:
- To be an MCC member
- A genuine passion for the MCG and delivering exceptional customer service
- Excellent verbal communication skills and a high standard of personal presentation
- The ability to retain and relay accurate information
- Confidence presenting and sharing stories in front of groups
- A welcoming, inclusive approach to visitors of all ages, abilities, languages and cultural backgrounds
What you'll get out of it
As an MCG Tour Guide, you'll join a volunteer community with a history of nearly 50 years. You’ll make new friends with people who share your passion and enjoy social activities and events throughout the year.
All volunteers receive a contribution towards travel costs and meals, along with ongoing training and development. After one year as a Tour Guide, you'll earn the iconic MCC striped blazer, a mark of distinction worn by those who've earned their stripes.
