Through their eyes - MITS visits the 'G

A group of Year 8s from the Melbourne Indigenous Transition School (MITS) recently swapped the classroom for the MCG, getting a behind-the-scenes look at stadium life during one of the most exciting periods on the calendar.

With the 'G fresh off hosting an NFL game and amid preparation for an AFL Preliminary Final, the students got a rare look at what makes the stadium tick, meeting staff from across the business as part of their visit.

The itinerary included a visit to the Australian Sports Museum and a bespoke tour exploring the ground's history, plus stops at Yarra Park and the Water Recycling Facility to see how sustainability shapes life at the 'G.

The MCC, through the MCC Foundation, is proud to support and provide opportunities for students at the school.

The students were given a camera to capture moments that stood out and were asked to share what they love most about the MCG.

“I love coming to the MCG during Dreamtime because it looks beautiful and I love seeing the players joining in,” said one.

“One day I want to run in the Commonwealth Games and represent Australia,” said another.
