MCC launches its second Reconciliation Action Plan

Marking the start of National Reconciliation Week, the Melbourne Cricket Club is proud to share its Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), the next step in the Club's commitment to reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The Innovate RAP builds on the foundations established through the Club's inaugural Reflect RAP, moving from education and awareness to measurable action.
Guided by the pillars of relationships, respect, opportunities and governance, the plan sets out commitments to:
- strengthen and expand partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, organisations and businesses
- embed reconciliation across the Club’s operations, from procurement and employment practices to community engagement and events
- continue to educate and build understanding across the MCC workforce and member base
- showcase and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and achievements through the Club’s platforms, including the Australian Sports Museum and major events at the MCG.
Since committing to reconciliation with its inaugural Reflect RAP in 2021, the Club has made significant progress. Some of the highlights include:
- all MCC permanent staff and volunteers have undertaken First Nations cultural training, including education on Acknowledgement of Country
- more than 1,100 event staff have completed a cultural competency session
- the inclusion of the Indigenous Trail in the Australian Sports Museum
- renaming the Yarra Park Room to Dillbabiik Room, meaning Sacred Ground in Woi-wurrung language
- the planting of 12 scarred tree seedlings in Yarra Park, and 20 seedlings at Coranderrk
- community partnerships with the Melbourne Indigenous Transition School and Cricket Australia to deliver the National Indigenous Cricket Championships and MCG Training Camp.
Melbourne Cricket Club Chief Executive Officer Stuart Fox said:
“The MCG and Yarra Park are some of Australia's most significant sporting and cultural sites, and as their caretakers, we have both the opportunity and the responsibility to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their cultures are embraced and celebrated here.
“Our goal is to make reconciliation part of the Club’s identity, and this plan sets out clear commitments to ensure we can deliver on that.”
